About us

Gittit Choir, based in Haifa and conducted by Mr. Zoli Frank, is currently celebrating 40 years of creating music in Haifa and in Israel. The choir has 60 singers, including native Israelis, immigrants, Jews, Christians, and Muslims—all living in Haifa and in the North of Israel. Virtually all of Gittit’s singers speak at least 2 languages including: Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, English, Spanish, Romanian, French, and Hungarian. Many of Gittit’s singers have formal music training and/or a rich background in artistic and liturgical singing. Although virtually all of the choir members are not professional, all of them are passionate about singing and are committed to a high artistic standard.

Gittit’s repertoire is diverse and includes classical choir music including Christian and Jewish liturgy alongside modern and contemporary choir music. The choir collaborates with other choirs, orchestras, and soloists and performs throughout Haifa and in Israel in churches, synagogues, and concert halls. Gittit has participated in the "Holiday of Holidays" festival in Haifa in December, in music festivals in Israel, as well as in international choir festivals, such as the Europa Cantat.

In 2022, Gittit was the supporting choir of a series of performances with three Italian tenors and with the Israeli Chamber Opera Orchestra featuring a number of Italian Opera and orchestral-choir pieces.

Mr. Zoli Frank graduated from ELTE University in Budapest with honors and has studied with the top conductors in Hungary. He has won professional awards and Audience Favorite Awards and has extensive experience conducting choirs in Hungary and throughout Europe. Mr. Frank immigrated to Israel in 2002 and has since become very active in choirs and choral activities throughout the country. He has been Gittit’s Conductor and Musical Director since 2007. Mr. Zoli Frank additionally writes and arranges various musical pieces for choirs, some of which Gittit has sung in its concerts.
